We are proud to be accredited by the Chartered Institute for Logistics and Transport (C I L T) to conduct training to achieve this sought after qualification leading to the Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence, or Operator CPC as it is sometimes called.

We have a number of courses from an Assisted Learning Correspendence Course to a classroom based intensive study period. If you have a group of four people from your own business who can attend at the same time we can even run the courses at your premises.

We have maximum and minimum numbers for the courses and we run them to co-incide with the exams which take place six times per year.

The most popular format and the most effective method of training is to attend a training course at our classroom in Shrewsbury.

We did for many years run two week courses leading to the exam in the third week.  This however was an extremely intense course, which when supplemented with homework and revision was sometimes considered too heavy on the poor brain. Therefore, as a result of customer input and requests, and with considerable success we now run the courses in three blocks of three, that is Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for each of three weeks prior to the exam.

We also offer the same course remotely via Zoom. However to undertake remote training you will need a computer with a built in camera and a good microphone. We can not offer remote training to more that one person per computer – not a group session therefore.

Finally we offer distance learning where you self study but have access to the tutor via phone or email at the end of each working day.

Now, who needs this qualification?

The holder of a Standard National or Standard International Operator’s Licence must have a Transport Manager with the TM CPC qualification. It is valid througout the EU.

A word of warning though. Many years ago passing this exam was almost a “turn up on the day” and you will qualify. Not so now. You must put the hours in and you must be prepared to study hard. The current exams are in two parts and take up a full day. The morning session is a multiple Q & A session and the afternoon session is a series of Case Studies. For example, “plan a route from Shrewsbury to Barcelona taking in to account Drivers Hours and Working Time regulations”

Even if you hold a Restricted Operator’s Licence – that is only carrying your own goods – you must still comply with all the legislation relative to a transport organisation and our experience is that so many Restricted Licence holders find themselves in front of the Traffic authorities for committing offences which they may well have not committed had they known how to legally operate.

CILT is a world wide organisation and one of only two which can offer the Transport Manager exams. Whilst they do not provide their own resource material they strongly recommend material from EOS Ltd, and as CILT approved trainers we also rely on the EOS resource pack, supplemented by our own material.

To book a course you have to be registered with CILT. We do that for you. However we can only do so if you are reregistered just over one month before the exam. In order to arrange your training and exam we need a deposit of £250 and a copy of your driver’s licence. A phone call to our office – 01743 460460 – will secure your place.

In you need any other information or just want an informal chat about the course or exam, pick up the phone, we are always willing to help.
